The Phillies organization will be honoring Spina as one of the great educators in the region who are making a difference.

She was nominated through the Delaware Valley 2011 Teacher All-Star contest. Students and adults were asked to nominate teachers who have made an impact on their lives.

Spina was nominated by Greg and Cyndi Koseluk. Their son, who attends Quinton Elementary School, is autistic and he is in Spina’s class.

She is a teacher of five autistic boys at Quinton Elementary School. She created the autistic program 10 years ago, and since then has tirelessly dedicated herself to the needs of the children.

The response to this year’s contest was overwhelming, as the Phillies organization received more than 2,500 nominations.
