Valdez, 33, who spent time at second base, shortstop and third base for the Phillies, batted .249 with one home run and 30 RBIs last season.

Horst, 26, went 0-0 with a 2.93 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Reds last year. He made 36 appearances for Triple-A Louisville, posting a 1-4 record and 2.81 ERA in 2011.
