Vance Makes Start vs The Sox

" rel="bookmark">

So, I have been in a great mood for the past 24 hours.  Cliff Lee started it, then a bonfire and a six-pack did the rest.  Three straight complete game shut outs… by far the most amazing pitching I’ve seen in a long, long time.  Tonight, it’s up to Vance Worley (2-1, 2.83 ERA) to follow up Cliff.  Worley threw a great game his last time out,  allowing his first hit in just the 6th inning in last Friday night’s pitcher’s duel vs Oakland.  He has re-found that early-season success he had in April, since rejoining the rotation nearly two weeks ago.  Worley has an 0.82 ERA in 2 starts, giving up 1 run in 11 innings pitched.  It’s going to be an interesting match up tonight, however, with John Lackey (5-6, 7.36 ERA) taking on the Phillies’ offense.  The bats gave Cliff the run support he deserved last night, 5 runs on 6 hits.  A guy with a +7 ERA clearly has problems.  In Lackey’s last start he allowed 5 runs in just 3.1 innings in a loss to the Padres.  Hopefully, the Phils can keep it going tonight against a struggling Lackey, and then some tomorrow.
