After last night’s late walk off win, I personally believe that we are in the drivers seat for this series. Raul Ibanez took a 2-0 pitch deep to right field in the bottom of the 10th last night to send the Phillies and the Phillies fans (my father & myself included) home very happy. A 3-2 win over the Braves in game one of this crucial series was a great momentum booster, and right now I am very confident in Cliff today. Cliff Lee (9-6, 2.92 ERA) is coming off his first loss since the end of May. Last Sunday, he allowed 7 runs on 10 hits through 7 1/3 innings, resulting in a 7-4 loss. Lee had Major League Baseball by the jewels in June. He led the way with 34 consecutive scoreless innings and pitching 42 innings and allowing 1 earned run, accumulating a 0.21 ERA.
It’s not June anymore, it’s July, and the league is 2 days away from heading into the All-Star break. Now, with a 3 game lead over the Braves in the NL East, Cliff Lee and the Phillies hope to add another number to the left side. Cliff Lee is 1-3 with a 6.15 ERA career vs the Braves. In his 2nd start of the season he faced the Braves and allowed 6 earned runs on 10 hits in only 3 1/3 innings. In the way of the Phillies stands Tommy Hanson (10-4, 2.52 ERA) who is coming off a solid 7 inning outing vs the Rockies, in which he allowed 1 run on only 4 hits. He is 5-0 with a 1.97 ERA in his last 5 starts, but he is 1-2 with a 2.45 ERA career vs the Phillies.
First Pitch @4:10 PM on Fox.
