As we all finally wake up from what should be a late night hangover on this, the Ron Swanson of holidays, our favorite native Hawaiian is leading the All Star Game’s Final Vote. Shane Victorino is in first place among his National League “competition”. Shane is sitting pretty on top of the Dodgers Andre Ethier, the Nationals Michael Morse, Arizona’s Ian Kennedy, and Colorado’s Todd Helton.
Voting continues now through Thursday and we all here are doing our best to pimp out Victorino. I’m really excited to help Shane out. I just don’t know how I’m going to get that spray painted 8 off the hood of my car.
The Flyin’ Hawaiian won this same competition in ’09. Everyone remembers him campaigning like a boss in Philadelphia with Mayor Michael Nutter. According to the Phillies official site, the city of Brotherly Love is doing all it can to help a brother out. From the site and Todd Zolecki:
“Fans might have noticed an enormous “8″ in red and white lights on the Cira Centre on Sunday night while driving along the Schuylkill Expressway. Digital billboards along roads and highways will begin running no later than Monday.
“Nutter is spreading the word on Twitter. He will also wear a Victorino jersey during portions of the Welcome America concert on Monday in Philadelphia, with voting information located on video screens on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The Phillies will award a randomly selected fan who votes for the outfielder with a Victorino jersey (an All-Star jersey if he wins the vote, a Phillies jersey if he does not).”
