Doc Returns to The T.O. As Phillies Stay for Three

" rel="bookmark">

After getting sunburn all over my body at yesterday’s game,  I cannot wait to relax in my chair, crack open a six-pack, and time my TV and radio so I catch Franske & L.A. instead of the Dip Shit-Duo.  The Phillies are in Toronto for three games this weekend, all at 1:07 PM, and Doc will face his former team tomorrow afternoon.  But for Today,  Kyle Kendrick (4-4, 3.23 ERA) will take on Ricky Romero (7-7, 2.74 ERA) and the Blue Jays.  Kendrick is making his first start since game one of two in the double header on June 15.  He allowed only 1 run on 5 hits through 7 innings in a 8-1 Phils’ win.  Romero is coming off a 4 hit shut out over St. Louis,  where he struck out 5 red birds to get his 7th win. Over his last three starts, Romero has allowed just three earned runs while striking out 21. Romero has pitched at least seven innings in each of his last nine starts.  This guy can go deep into the game for the Jays, but then again, Kendrick is good for 7 if he can keep the Phils in the game.  I wonder how many Phillies’ fans grabbed their passports to cross the border to see the Fightins?  It’s usually Citizens Bank Park in the North, but around 44,000 are at the game today.  We’ll see.

Another point I want to hit on, is Jose Bautista.  For real?  This guy HAS to be on steroids, 24 home runs and 52 RBIs?  Yeah, anybody can do that.  But this guy is crazy good… and pretty damn scary.  I hope Kendrick is smart and pitches around the guy in his first career start against Toronto.  Romero is 1-0, with a 1.93 ERA career vs the Phillies.  Let’s pull for a good start on the road.  This year, the Phillies are 19-17 on the road compared to their 32-14 record at home.
